Three-day service

If you have time to plan, our three-day1 service is an economical option for you. Pay with your bank account and your money can be available for your receiver to pick up at an agent location in three bank business days.2

    Choose your destination country and enter the amount you want to send.
    Choose cash at an agent location for how you'd like the money received.
    Choose to pay with your bank account.
    Click Continue.
  3. Enter your receiver’s name. (For a few countries, you may also need to enter a test question and answer for security purposes.)
  4. Link your bank account to your Western Union profile (US accounts only).
  5. Verify your bank account and complete your money transfer.
  6. We’ll email you a confirmation. Save the tracking number (MTCN) to share with your receiver for pickup, and in case you want to track your transfer.

WU® Pay: Bank transfer by Western Union

 Send money from your bank account to any Western Union location worldwide.

  1. Log in to your profile. If you don't have a profile, please register.
  2. Start a transaction and choose WU® Pay as your payment method.
  3. Use your bank’s online service to pay. We'll provide the information you need.
  4. We'll send you a confirmation by email. Save the tracking number (MTCN) to share only with your receiver for pickup. Your money will be available for cash pickup within three bank business days.1

If your receiver lives in a country where we offer this service, you can send money to their mobile phone—so they can get their money even more quickly and easily.1 Make sure your receiver has activated a mobile wallet2 with one of our partner mobile operators in their country.

  6. The money will be deposited into your receiver’s qualifying bank account within 3 bank business days in the destination country. In some cases, it could be deposited the next day. The 3-day count begins the day after you send your transaction. Check out destination-specific timing.

When you send money online to an inmate, your money is usually available in the receiver's trust account the same day. This service is also available on the Federal Bureau of Prisons website.

  2. Select "make a payment to a correction facility."
  3. Pay with your credit or debit card (issued by a US bank).1
  4. Your money will be deposited into the Inmate's account generally on the same day.
